As part of its development, our Medical Imaging Department is seeking an
Interventional Radiologist with a peripheral focus
to join its multidisciplinary team starting on 1 August 2026.
Your role
As an interventional radiologist, your duties will include:
- Performing percutaneous and endovascular peripheral interventional procedures: oncology, interventional radiology for portal hypertension and liver transplants, dialysis catheters and fistulas, haemostasis embolisation, etc.
- Interventional radiology consultations.
- Performing and interpreting vascular imaging examinations: CT angiography, MR angiography, Doppler ultrasounds.
- Close collaboration with specialist teams, particularly in oncology, adult and paediatric intensive care, liver and kidney transplants, vascular and digestive surgery, and the emergency department.
- Active participation in multidisciplinary meetings and therapeutic decisions.
- Supervision of trainee doctors (interns/assistants) and medical students.
- Participation in clinical or translational imaging research projects in conjunction with UCLouvain.
- Participation in peripheral RI on-call duties and intracranial thrombectomy. If the candidate does not have thrombectomy skills at the time of hiring, these must be acquired through training organised by the department.
General overview
The interventional radiology unit is part of the medical imaging department at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc and offers comprehensive care for vascular, oncological and interventional pathologies, both peripheral and neuro-interventional.
It draws on a wide range of specialised clinical activities, including interventional oncology, hepatobiliary procedures (liver and kidney transplants), peripheral artery disease, vascular malformations and cerebral thrombectomy.
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and involved in numerous multidisciplinary consultations, the department combines clinical expertise, innovation, teaching and research.
Your profile
- You have a degree in radiology, trained in peripheral interventional radiology and vascular imaging; previous experience in an academic setting is an asset.
- You have an INAMI number and are authorised to practise medicine in Belgium (or are in the process of obtaining recognition).
- You are fluent in French, both spoken and written.
- You are able to work as part of a team, collaborating with your colleagues and clinical teams in a constructive and supportive manner.
Activity
- Full-time: 4 days per week dedicated to clinical work and 1 day per week dedicated to scientific and teaching activities.
- Clinical work:
- 3 days per week of interventional radiology.
- 1 day per week of diagnostic imaging and consultations.
- On-call duty with overall activity (1 in 4 shifts): peripheral IR and cerebral thrombectomy (skills to be acquired in the department if not already mastered at the time of hiring)
- Participation in weekly multidisciplinary discussions: hepatobiliary, oncology, urology, paediatric hepatology, vascular malformations, etc.

- A Phillips Azurion single-plane room installed in January 2025
- A Siemens Artis Icono dual-plane room installed in December 2025
- A room dedicated to ultrasound-guided interventional procedures
- Access to an interventional scanner
Shared with the rest of the radiology department:
- Four dual-energy CT scanners
- Four MRI machines, including three clinical machines (one 1.5T and two 3.0T) and one 3.0T machine dedicated to research
Current team composition
- 4 full-time interventional radiologists (2 interventional radiologists specialising in peripheral medicine and 2 interventional radiologists specialising in neurology)
- 2 radiologists in training (assistants)
- 3 external consultants (1 day/week)
